This notice explains how personal information is handled on malektakieddine.com, an independent editorial website. Reading the site does not require an account or subscription.
Who is responsible
Malek Takieddine is responsible for the personal information processed for this publication. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email malek.takieddine@al-jad.com.
Information used to deliver and protect the website
When you request a page or file, the hosting and delivery providers process technical information needed to deliver it. This can include your IP address, the requested address, request time, browser information, referring address and security or error information. These operations support delivery, troubleshooting and protection against misuse.
Optional visitor analytics, member-source tracking, newsletter-open tracking, email-click tracking and outbound-link tagging have been disabled. This website does not use advertising pixels, sell personal information, or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. It does not make automated decisions about visitors or create advertising profiles.
Correspondence and earlier subscriptions
If you email me, I receive your address, your message and any information you choose to include. I use this to respond and handle the matter you raise. Please avoid sending sensitive personal or confidential client information through a general website enquiry.
The website no longer accepts email subscriptions, member accounts or comments, and newsletter sending is disabled. The earlier subscription list was removed from the site's active member system on 31 October 2026. This does not mean that every provider-controlled backup or technical log is erased immediately. Earlier subscription information is not used to resume marketing or transferred to Substack automatically. You can contact me about any remaining information relating to you.
Public social-web interactions
The publication also participates in Ghost's social web, which is separate from website membership and email subscriptions. If you follow or interact with its public profile through a connected social platform, Ghost may receive your public account name, profile information and the interaction from that platform. I use this information to operate the publication's public profile, respond to interactions and address misuse. Public posts and interactions can be distributed to other participating servers; their operators have their own privacy practices. Simply reading this website does not subscribe you to that profile.
Purposes and legal grounds
Where EU data protection law applies, necessary site delivery, security, ordinary correspondence and handling public social-web interactions are based on legitimate interests in operating a reliable publication and responding to people who contact or interact with it, taking account of their rights. Processing needed to meet a specific legal obligation relies on that obligation. Earlier voluntary subscription processing relied on the permission given when subscribing; new subscription processing has stopped. Where consent is the basis, it can be withdrawn without affecting processing already lawfully carried out.
Providers and international processing
Ghost Foundation Ltd provides the Ghost(Pro) publishing and hosting service. Hosting, network-delivery, security and email providers may process information as necessary to provide their services. Ghost describes its hosting arrangements in its privacy policy and its responsibilities in its data processing agreement. Its main hosting servers are in the Netherlands; some suppliers or support operations may involve other countries. Applicable transfer safeguards must be used where required. You can contact me for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
Google Workspace delivers and stores correspondence sent to the contact address, which is part of the Al Jad Law Firm Workspace account that I administer. Google's privacy information, data processing terms and subprocessor list describe its provider arrangements. Email and support processing can involve countries outside the European Economic Area. Public social-web interactions may also reach the operators of the services through which those interactions take place.
How long information is kept
Ordinary website enquiries are kept while the matter is open and removed from active correspondence within 12 months after resolution. Deleted messages can remain in the email provider's trash, recovery or backup systems for its applicable deletion periods. A record may be kept longer where necessary to handle a specific legal obligation, dispute or security incident; the reason and continuing need are reviewed. This rule concerns website enquiries, rather than unrelated professional or personal correspondence.
Technical records are kept for the period needed for delivery, security, fault investigation and related legal requirements. Provider-controlled logs and backups have separate deletion processes. Public social-web information is retained as needed for the continuing follow relationship, public discussion, moderation or a related legal requirement; copies on other operators' servers are controlled by those operators. Detailed provider log and backup schedules are being clarified. No fixed immediate-erasure period is promised for those systems. You can request information about retention affecting your data.
Your rights and choices
Depending on the law and circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact me using the address above. Reasonable identity verification may be needed; only information necessary to verify the request will be sought. Requests under the GDPR are normally answered within one month, with any lawful extension explained.
You may complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), your other competent European supervisory authority, or the UK Information Commissioner where applicable. These rights are not conditional on first contacting me.

Changes to this notice
This page will be updated if the site's practices change. The date above identifies the current version. New optional tracking or subscription features would require a fresh assessment and the appropriate information and choices before use.
